Aim: To demonstrate safety knowledge and proficiency in coach and safety boat
operation, enabling better safety cover for rowers involved in rowing club
activities and events.
Duration: 6 hours.
Qualification: Club Safety Boat Operator Certificate (Endorsed
by Rowing NZ).
Prerequisites: Some knowledge/experience of small power-driven vessels preferred. Rowing New Zealand's Water Safety Code 2016 recommends that all members are able to swim 50m in light clothing.
Recommended by Rowing New Zealand.
A practical on-water opportunity to demonstrate boat-handling skills for rowing club coaches and safety

Course bookings are available to private groups only. Please contact us on bookings@boatingeducation.org.nz for a quote. A minimum of 8 students is required for the course to proceed (maximum 10 students per course). The cost is $185 per student and additional charges may apply, such as tutor travel, freight of sending resources, etc. which is dependent on the course's location.
Courses are ideally run at the rowing club, for its members, as vessels, hazards and processes will be club specific. The Club Safety Officer should be in attendance to assist with training on club specific procedures and equipment.
